A world-renown artist, Sergei Babayan’s emotional intensity and bold energy, equip him to explore stylistically diverse repertoire. He was the first pianist from the former USSR to compete without government sponsorship. Immediately after his first trip outside of the Soviet Union, Babayan won consecutive first prizes in several major international competitions and continues to receive public and critical acclaim
around the world. Babayan is currently the Mr. and Mrs. John D. Gilliam Artist-in-Residence at Cleveland Institute of Music.
